This idea is used for children who need help with conversational skills or who are learning to talk about different topics. An old fruit/vegetable tray (cleaned off) was used. Construction paper was used to show different sections of the circle. Each section will then be a different topic. Topics can include anything a child might have an interest in (animals, family, friends, movies). Use Velcro to attach topics (using Boardmaker communication symbols) to each section of the circle, this way they are interchangeable depending on the type of child you are using it with. Come up with questions for the children to ask each other ("What's your favorite color?" "Do you have any brothers?" "What animal is your favorite?" etc) and use picture symbols to represent these questions and attach them using Velcro in their designated topic section. Once you're ready to use it, have child 1 pick a topic and then 3 questions under that topic that they will be allowed to talk about, when they are done, child 2 can choose a topic with 3 questions. etc.
